WELL IT’S TIME

Time to say pooie ! lol!first I sew a whole row on my tiered skirt only to discover  it wouldn’t gather because I’d sewn it with a decorative stitch, which did not like the seam riper no sire re lol, well that was a good hour wasted, then I run out of thread, ohhh how could this happen, must of been that decorative stitch they eat up the thread lol soo back to town, oh how I hate to go to town “just for thread”,oh well I needed a new iron anyways lol, grabbed something to eat which wasn't a good choice,made me kinda sickie ,then back home, ok I can do this I’m soooooo close! & whatta you supposed happened next

yep! fell asleep at the machine lol! oh mercy & it’s after midnight  what a day! so I proudly wave my white flag,

but not as defeat for I will tackle this project this weekend

WHERE DID IT GO?

 

My comfort zone that is lol!I haven’t been feeling too good this week,

but then the phone rings, can you take me here? can you help me?well it’s not so bad that I can’t help a friend get to & fro from a colonoscopy appointment, I will delight sitting in the waiting room with my book I’ve been longing to get back to ,as I pass by my little “woman cave” the couch calls me, as I stand there I begin to dream of soft quilts & comfy pillows & a good classic old movie then I woke up & prepared to get ready to head out the door ,my garment for the “I Will Wear It In Public “ challenge is due tomorrow,perhaps I can go back to my dream next week for sure! lol!

THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Does your life keep you so busy you have to click your heels together like Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz & say there’s no place like home! there’s no place like home! I wouldn’t take nuttin for my busy life cause that’s just how I roll LOL! take yesterday for example, I strike out to baby girls house, there were around 77 cookies involved! there were cookies all over that kitchen, football jerseys, football helmets,  elephants, the letter “A”cookies, rounds with roll tide, rounds with hounds tooth air brushed on then red A piped on, whew!      one good thing about cookie making is some just look like they need to be eaten instead of being added to the group LOL! I have a new respect for iced decorated cookies, it’s not as easy as it looks! you have to be quick & you have to do it right! lol! but today the calendar was clear, yea shocking isn’t it lol! it’s been a wonderful day, just puttering around the house doing  those much need domestics, listening to hubby sleep (he’s on midnights), the day has now came to an end & the house is all quite as I get ready to retire   with the excitement of what God holds for me tomorrow.

STICK PINS ARE CALLING

 

have you given much thought as to what will be the next project you’ll get into, while looking, but I like to say it like this so’s it’s not playing  lol while I was researching pincushions , stick pins & hat pins started popping up everywhere, so I went on you tube & “researched” a little further & found they’re easy peasy to make & soo cute! now as to what I’d do with them, how I’d display them ,not sure but they’re calling me LOL! so while you’re online “research” stick pins lol  

A PRODUCTIVE DAY

 

 

up at 5:30 am. a load of cloths washing, sweet potatoes baking, butterbeans  cooking, dishes soaking , coffee brewing, music playing, blogging all done, even a post or two lol,now it’s time to dry the cloths, cook the chicken, unload the van from sewing with my daughter, putting things back in the sewing room, get a  bath, get dressed & out the door again to help a dear friend move, yes this is my life busy! busy! busy! LOL!

SKIRTS PHASE TWO

I finally got all my panels cut out, these fabrics are a hoot to work with so there’s no telling what they’ll look like in the end lol!

she’s fastly picking up how to sew& we are having  a blast!

one of her panels mystically disappeared , after we blamed everybody, lol! we headed back to Hancock's for more fabric    the lady in the fabric dept. remembered us  from last week & said now we have her curiosity up & she  wants to see what we’re making that’s taking so long lol! I told her between her working & me an hour away ,we’re having to sew in spurts lol but we’ll be back!lol! it was a fun filled day sewing while husbands grilled  pork chops, & hamburgers,toped off with potato salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, & chocolate cake, sorry, we were too busy smacking our lips to take pictures lol!

JUST DO IT!

Have you ever just had to tell yourself, “just do it” or how about “just do it already!” LOL I’m sure that's what’s being shouted across cyber space with my sewing room but that's another story lol I totally blame “busy” on a lot of things, why just this week already , our church  organist is having back surgery, another one of our sweet members is bad sick ,there’s  a 6oth surprise party for my brother-n-law, sewing those skirts which has peaked the interest of the lady at Hancock's & now wants to see them when we’re done lol,my youngest daughter is helping me finish up mannequin pincushions    for all of us at church that are sewing each week the little dresses for Africa,  we have over 200 now! which reminds me Wed. morning is sewing day so how many days are left to just do something already? I wouldn’t change my busy life for anything ,if you have to wait to get everything done in your life then you won’t enjoy your life or those things most precious to you, this past weekend was spent working on phase two of the skirt project, cooking out , lots of  laughs ,hugs & kisses from my grand kids & even though this week is filled with “busy” the grass will still get cut, that woman cave will still get finished as I am sure my to do list will continue to grow, no matter what life throws your way, never be too busy to embrace it!

SKIRTS PHASE ONE

This past weekend my oldest daughter & me set out to find fabrics to create our version of a skirt she’d purchased, here’s our inspiration, looks easy enough, right? lol!

I even found a tutorial on You Tube how to make your own pattern for a skirt like this, so we grab a roll of wrapping paper to make our pattern, you can find the link on my raggedys blog

let me do it! ohhh that first cut! lol! after we got all the printed panels cut out we cut out the black panels, we shopped, cut out, sewed & laughed till 3 am, our next sew date  we’ll get hers put together & mine cut out, when your heart is over whelmed with joy seeing your grown Childs face light up like Christmas morning you know you are truly blessed in deed!

my daughter has this beautiful skirt that is sewn in panels & full like a circular skirt, easy to copy & make , right? lol! well I’ll be going to my oldest daughters & we’ll be going & picking out fabric & then a trip to the store to whip up a Mexican feast for supper, ohh it’s going to be a great day,my oldest works & lives the furthest away & hard to get together as much as we’d like but today is our day, we’re going to sew all evening & let someone else do the cooking LOL!

MAKINGS OF A WOMAN CAVE

For most of us our sewing/craft/quilting/studio/rooms would be considered our “woman cave” lol! but since the sewing room is still under construction I’m turning my little room off the back of the house as you come through the back door into a woman cave lol! I’ve had so many dreams for this little room,  a sun room, a breakfast nook but as the saying goes use what you got for now sooo I pulled the bookcases out of the living room,they’re really too big for this room & over power it, took me forever to find them a happy stopping place lol & then  began to sort through all the books, still working on that, whew!, pulled the little TV back in, it’s in the corner by the chair, still some tweaking with the books & walls, today I’m  making curtains for my little woman cave lol! I hope to get it all completed in the next few days

MORE PILLOWCASES & A DATE

I was so pleased how my pillowcases turned out that I worked on two more that next day ,

I surprised the girls with theirs when they came in from school                                                        

there was no school that next day(weather makeup day from the tornado)so they got to go to Tenn for the weekend, humm now we’re all alone in the big house with Emma

my daughter calls to see if the girls got off ok & tells us we can go home, the dogs will be fine, I tell her we’re not going home, we’re on vacation LOL she replies, seriously mom you staying at my house by yourselves?I reply yep, we’re on vacation & you’re not here to make us go home  ha! so we set out to go get something to eat this the best BBQ place! oh my word is it good!

if you ever come across an Uncle Sams stop in, you’ll be glad you did, after supper we went by to check on hubby’s brother while we were close by, then back to the big house , awww house sitting can be so nice! lol!

 

 

 

 

PILLOWCASE HAPPENINGS

with the girls at school & Terry going home to check on our little doggies, the house is all quite on the third day, humm what to do, can you believe I finally made those pillowcases, I’ve been trying to make for seems like a year lol! I came across this picture  on pinterest & thought humm so that’s where my daughter got the idea for us to make meatball subs one night lol

now back to my pillowcases, I decided to go with ribbon  for the trim instead of fabric, I’m so proud of how they turned out, pretty pillows make for sweet dreams you know! lol!     of course when the girls got in we had to go to WalMart & pick out fabric for them, you can guess what I did that next day lol!

IF THERE’S NO HOMEWORK

THEN THERE’S ONLY ONE THING TO DO!

go out to eat! yea! second day , upon arriving home from school I asked the girls if they had any homework, they both said no, humm well we’ll take them at their word , that’s what good Nanna’s do , right? lol~ there’s a new Chinese restaurant waiting to be checked out!
