GULF BREEZE ZOO

last week as we headed home from Orange Beach,  we hit a lot of Antique Malls as we found our way to the Gulf Breeze Zoo, the pink outfit was just right for that lol!

there was over 50 acres & no we didn’t cover it all soooo we’ll have to go back one day lol! have you ever seen a white peacock?

this one had about 13 babies running after her, so sweet!

& of course the true blue peacock seems to show up at every zoo

& here you have it! storks are real lol!

I’ve seen a lot of zebras in my time but I believe these are the most beautiful so far1

you’re allowed to feed the animals as most are right there at you & they know it, they will walk toward you with that “feed me” look

there’s always a show off lol! he hollered hello at us & when he showed out he started saying goodbye! guess he was done with us lol

glad there was a fence cause he came running looking for  a treat lol!

speaking of running, I did a little running of my own as this turtle came after my pretty red toes lol!

B is for bear

there was so much I didn’t get due to my battery dying, like when Terry was running back & forth in front of a lion cub having him roll over & doing tricks, making sure he kept his distance as he was not behind glass as they are here at our zoo, it was the perfect ending to our mini vacation, as the sun began to set it was off in search of another one of those not so diet friendly seafood restaurants lol!

 

TRYING NEW THINGS

I am so in love with this fabric I found at Hobby Lobby lol!friends often ask how many things can I get into, a lot! lol! I had been wanting to try my hand at padded cloths hangers for  awhile & a thank you for helping me  for a friend seemed the perfect time to try it out

first the hangers are wrapped with batting, you can add a touch of glue to secure, I used a permanent fabric glue, the red is my sample,  I wasn’t about to cut into that fabric just yet! if I’ve learned anything at all from the sew your own wardrobe for  a year challenge, it’s to make a sample first lol!

then I traced around one of the padded hangers & made a template

now we can cut into that delicious fabric & start sewing lol!

there were a few spots where the batting decided to move so I just filled in the slack with fiberfill & thus six little padded hangers were born! 

I noticed the closer I got to the last one they were looking better lol so I will try my hand at them again

BEACH FUN

being able to walk out the door of the hotel onto the beach was nice, we took morning strolls before breakfast & daily adventures  as well as evening strolls before retiring for the day

what compels us to always take pictures of seagulls lol!

down the beach a ways we came across this sand turtle, somebody spent a lot of time here

 

I was on dry land when Terry was snapping my picture the waves got me  just that quick lol! Terry on the other hand went out amongst it lol!

ONE OF OUR MANY ADVENTURES/DOLPHIN CRUISE

it’s been a long time since we’ve been able to get way for more than a day’s adventure that doesn’t involve getting up before daybreak & home before the rising of the sun lol! but this past week we headed out for Orange Beach, we walked the beach till dark, then walked & walked taking in the sights, the next morning,  more walking on the beach then off to our Dolphin cruise

the sun was so bright we weren’t sure what would be in the pictures  lol! but we did get a few dolphins! then lunch at Flippers, no pictures of what we ate cause we’re supposed to be on a diet lol!

then you guessed it! back to the beach for a moonlight stroll, a little too much sun lol! we did see the sun go down…on the front of the hotel lol! loL!

I’ve been a member of the SEW YOUR OWN WARDROBE FOR A YEAR  since April 1st & I’m  just now not missing “shopping” hummm did I just say that? lol! so with the help of a great friend vacation outfits were born!

and it might just be true lol! when I saw this , it made me think of button holes, zippers, pockets, lining, things I haven’t touched in over 30 years in the sewing field but have been wanting to get back into sewing for myself when I came across sew your own wardrobe for a year

so when I came across  Beverley's  Scary September to step out of your comfort zone I thought humm well I should step further out of the box as you can see I’ve been sticking to pullovers & elastic lol!

speaking of getting into things, I signed up for Where Bloggers Creates blog hop a few weeks back, I knew this would be the kick  I needed to get my sewing room done after trying to make it get that awwww I wantta be in here feeling for over  two years lol!

and trust me I feel kicked but glad I did it ! would you like to see more?

there’s sewing to be done for a short vacation coming up, I don’t wantta mess the sewing room up lol!

Dolphin cruise is booked, outfits to be made, peaches to be canned, blackberries to be picked,Van to be washed (birds pooped on it lol) will I get it all done? well I just gotta! lol!
