NO RHYME OR REASON DRESS

Do you ever want to make something , just because? This style may not necessarily suit my figure or age bracket lol! but it’s a fun little dress & well what can I say I’ve reached that age if I like it then oh well ! lol! If there’s red involved in the fabric then there really doesn’t have to be any rhymed or reason “I love red” & there’s just enough black to give the illusion of slimness right? lol!

I’m linking up to Rachel’s flicker group for selfish sewing week

looks good on he dress form lol! I tried it on & it fits but shorter than  I care to wear, guess if it looks like a mini dress on the pattern cover than it will be short, lesson learned lol! as thoughts of the word toss went through my mind, a friend suggested buying some leggings & assured me it would be cute cute cute, well I don’t know about that ,lol! I am going to the Zoo with my youngest daughter & grandson tomorrow, do I dare? lol!

I LOVE SHOPPING IN MY DAUGHTERS CLOSET

1234904_3412290641612_1084768090_n[2]

My oldest daughter is amazed at how long I’ve restrained from buying anything retail, oh mercy how long has it been since  a few  of us signed up for the  SEW YOUR OWN WARDWROBE FOR A YEAR CHALLENEG five months ago, did anybody go through buying withdrawals?,I did lol! right at time I signed up Cracker Barrel put out the most beautiful cloths I’d ever seen them sell, the Malls were bursting with bright vibrant colors,to keep from going into detox  lol ! I dove into Hancock's pattern sales, fabric clearance tables& dove into canning full force, this will most defiantly keep you to busy to shop or think about shopping lol! speaking of pattern sales did you know Butterick went on sale today for 99c lol! through this  sewing journey I have met many wonderful ladies from around the globe, it’s interesting that as we are headed for Fall some are headed for spring some  Summer, some are a day ahead & though I am writing this here at my bedtime there are those who are just waking up sitting here with their coffee ,so not only am I meeting wonderful new friends from around the globe, revisiting my sewing skills that had gone rusty lol! I’m getting  a lot of culture & I love that!

EATING AT HOME

PicMonkey Collage2

a friend gave us the peppers,  they are in  more in the bell pepper family & although they are not the true poblano peppers they turned out quite tasty, I searched for recipes that sounded as close to the ones in the Mexican restaurants & wound up with two which we took from each one things that are in ones you’d find true to a good stuffed problano pepper

there was a lot of peppers lol! so I stuffed them then covered  them with cheese, froze them then  wrapped  them in saran wrap then placed into freezer baggies, I just pull two out of the freezer,remove the saran wrap & bake at 350 for about 25-30 min on a foil lined baking sheet

here’s what I came up with from the two recipes

sautéed 1/2 onion in 1 tbsp., or more in  olive oil with 2 tbsp. garlic, add about one pound of beef ( I cooked the beef about half way done)

2 tbsp.cumin,1 &1/2 tbsp..chili powder, salt, pepper .

1/4 cup sharp cheddar 1 & 1/2 cup cooked rice ( I used the microwave min rice in the single servings)

one small can of diced tomatoes drained

1/3 cup fresh cilantro 1 & 1/3 cup sour cream & I threw in a little taco seasoning

mix all ingredients & stuff into washed & de seeded peppers, top with cheese, bake on foil lined pan for about15-20 min at 425

I will try this again with true poblanos as I’m sure they will take on a entirely different taste,we’ve talked about bring one home from our favorite Mexican restaurant & breaking it down when we venture out to make these again lol!

I served  them with homemade salsa

canning06& chips & brown rice & black beans,  oh & I drizzled a little enchilada sauce on top of the peppers sometimes it’s just good to eat at home!

TEACHING THEM A NEW SONG

THE EASTERN GATE”

Well it’s not really a ‘new” song per say, it was copyrighted in 1905, written by L.G.Martin

Welcome to Sunday Selections

piano

  1. I will meet you in the morning,
    Just inside the Eastern Gate;
    Then be ready, faithful pilgrim,
    Lest with you it be too late.
    • Refrain:
      I will meet you, I will meet you
      Just inside the Eastern Gate over there;
      I will meet you, I will meet you,
      I will meet you in the morning over there.
  2. If you hasten off to glory,
    Linger near the Eastern Gate,
    For I’m coming in the morning;
    So you’ll not have long to wait.
  3. Keep your lamps all trimmed and burning;
    For the Bridegroom watch and wait;
    He’ll be with us at the meeting
    Just inside the Eastern Gate.
  4. Oh, the joys of that glad meeting
    With the saints who for us wait!
    What a blessed, happy meeting
    Just inside the Eastern Gate!

just gotta love the old classics!
