SUNDAY SELECTIONS

After fighting with the computer this morning , I finally won , we pray that today has found you healthy & blessed, never take for granted that you woke up in your right mind, that you were given another day, for life is truly a gift of God but as vapor is gone as suddenly as it appears, so is life, as you go about your day this week whisper a prayer for my cousin Danny who lost the love of his life yesterday that he will find strength & comfort in the Lord

PINK LADY BUGS

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, here we are with another pink Saturday, will the pink ever end? Well there you have it! she's gone & zapped that ladybug pink! noo it's not the film,it's not faded LOL my daughter got an order for a pink ladybug cake for a ladys daughters 1st birthday, so you see there is nothing that pink fairy wont do, so keep a sharp eye out! LOL

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

We pray that each & everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving & continue to be blessed throughout the week as you reflect on things you're thankful for & being surrounded by love ones, today will be full of joy for some & for some it will be a day of sadness, today my children will all be going to their in laws, hubby will be working & I get ready to head over to sister's, my heart is heavy for my father-n-law, for today will be another "1st" without the love of his life as everyone goes about their busy days for it will be a year come Dec that we lost my mother-n-law, so I pray today that his day be filled with sweet memories to help ease the pain of going through another special day of being alone

FRUIT BALLS

With the Holidays upon us there's lots of baking with family &
friends going on , recipes that haven't been seen in ages start to emerge, like the one I'm sharing today, FRUIT BALLS this is a recipe that I got way back in the 70's from my husbands aunt to make with the kids who are now in their 30's with kids of their own LOL,it's really simple & fast,& you can make them any color & flavor you want depending on the flavor jello, as well as I can remember that far back it seems like they have a sweet tart taste humm I may have to make them with the grand kids to find out LOL

FRUIT BALLS

3small packs jello (any flavor)
1 cup coconut
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup condensed milk

Mix 2 packs of jello, nuts, coconut & cond. milk, mix & form into balls roll in remaining dry jello

*I use to make these for Christmas using the red & green flavored jello's

A SWEET SURPRISE

Where has the week gone LOL seems like when you get ahead that pink fairy comes around again, has she visited you lately, I tell you she will zap when you least expect then poof ! pink fairy dust all over the place, so keep an eye out, and don't think because you don't see her or any evidence of her presence that she's not zapping pink into your life, she's fast as well as clever

Now we all think white when we think snow or snowmen, right, well my daughter & granddaughters made me the sweetest Christmas ornament, as I opened the email & began to watch this picture of the sweetest surprise appear I knew that pink fairy had gone too far LOL she'd done flew all the way over to my daughters house & zapped my surprise before I could get to it, if you see pink out of the corner of your eye, beware, it could be the pink fairy waiting to zap you

just look at what she did !pink on my snowmen! LOL

CAKE OR COOKIE?

Welcome back to Temp My Tummy, it has been one busy week LOL I think I finally am getting over this cold, but it's trying to come back,the night of setting up for the show it poured down rain & yea I got sopping wet! not once but twice LOL but it finally stopped long enough to bring our things in, more on the show later down the week, I must tempt your tummy today LOL, I came across this recipe in an old magazine at a friends house that did the show with me, we looked at recipes till we made ourselves hungry LOL, this particular one got our attention, for it says it's a cookie , yet it looks like cake,LOL, I guess because it reminds me of the little cakes you buy at the bakery , soooo there's only one way to find out if it leans toward cookie or cake & that's to make it right? so I've decided I'll be making these in a few weeks for our ladies meeting LOL

VENETIANS

1 can(8 oz) almond paste

1 1/2 c.(3 sticks) butter softened

1c. sugar

4 eggs (separated)

1 tsp. almond extract

2c. all purpose flour

1/4 tsp salt ( I never add salt to cookie or cake recipes lol)

10 drops of green food coloring

8 drops of red food coloring

1 jar(12oz) apricot preserves

2 1/2 squares(1 oz ea) semisweet chocolate

preheat oven to 350, coat 3 13x9x2in pans with non stick cooking spray, line with wax paper, allowing paper to come up the short ends, spray paper

break up almond paste in large bowl, add butter, sugar , egg yolks & almond extract, beat with electric mixer till light & fluffy, 5 min

beat in flour & salt

beat egg white with electric mixer until soft peaks form, fold into almond mixture until well blended

divide mixture into three equal portions, add green food coloring to one, red food coloring to another, leaving the last portion yellow, separately spread each colored portion into prepared pans

bake in preheated 350 oven 15 min or till edges are golden brown,immediately remove the cakes form pans using the waxed paper overhang

heat apricot preserves in small saucepan, strain through sieve,place green cake layer on jelly roll pan(I use cookie sheets) spread 1/2 of warm preserves over layer to edges, slide yellow layer on top, spread with remaining preserves, slide pink layer, right side up onto yellow layer

cover with plastic wrap, weight down with large wooden cutting board or heavy plate, place in refrigerator overnight

melt chocolate in double boiler over hot water, trim edges off cake, spread melted chocolate to edges of cake , let dry 10 min or till hardened, cut into 1 inch squares

"yields about 6 dozen"

A SHOUT OUT

A big shout out to all of my blog family!I'm sorry this week has kinda went to pot, I've been down with a cold, thank goodness it's gone, got tied up with a show this past weekend, got sopping wet but thank goodness it was an inside show! I have 3 days till set up time for a 2 days show this coming weekend

but first I'm taking my kitchen back today, for I've been cooking tea water, baking gingers, microwaving snowmen LOL anything & everything but food, & I'm hungry so it's all gotta go! With my tour of lights coming up I may even get started with a tree in there LOL

so please forgive my lack of blogging & come back tomarrow starting with a fantastic recipe, I promise I'll make it a fantastic week for you!

BLUEBERRY SOUR CREAM COFFEECAKE

BLUEBERRY SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE

1 package Duncan Hines Blueberry muffin mix

1/3 cup sour cream

1/4 cup milk

1 egg

1/4 cup blueberry preserves

GLAZE

1/2 cup confectioners sugar

1 12/ tsp water

1.Preheat oven to 375, grease an 8-9" round cake pan or pie pan

2. rinse blueberries with cold water & drain

3. For coffeecake combine dry muffin mix, sour cream,milk & egg in medium bowl

stir & spread 1/2 of batter into pan

4. Combine blueberries & preserves in small bowl

spread 1/2 of blueberry mixture on top of batter, spread remaining batter over blueberry layer,spread remaining fruit on top, bake @ 375 for 30-35 min.or till golden brown

5. For glaze, combine confectioners sugar & water in small bowl, stir until smooth, drizzle over coffeecake

A while back I sent my sister a link to vintage apron prints, never having time or running outta ink lol I never seemed to have time to print any out, well she decided to go for it, she did some tweeking & added a beutiful border & sent them to me,what about the ink you say? ohh well I have that all figured out, I've transfered them to a cd & will be going to print them out at a print shop, whoo hoo!

VEGETABLE SOUP

Is it Fall weather where you are, or did it pass you by & go right into Winter , here in Ala we're not sure what it is lol for a few days ago it was soooo cold then there are days where it's warm enough to turn the air on, go figure our weather LOL but no mater the weather, snowy, rainy,cool, warm , homemade vegetable warms the soul, sister & I have been making this soup forever, as a matter of fact I went to the store the other day, got all the ingredients, even got some zip lock bowls to have plenty on hand in the freezer, this soup freezes so good & whether it's just you or some for sharing, its' great to have on hand & pop in the microwave & get that warm fuzzy feeling just like the 1st day you made it ,for more fantastic recipes & meet great new friends besure to visit http://blessedwithgrace.blogspot.com/





HOMEMADE VEGETABLE SOUP


1 large can crushed tomatoes
1large can petite diced tomatoes
1 bag-16oz. mixed frozen vegetables
1 & 1/2 c elbow macaroni

add all ingredients to a large pot & add 2 & 1/2 cans of water using one of the tomato cans
add 1tbsp salt, 1 tbsp pepper
1 stick of butter
a touch of veg. oil
1tbsp parsley
1 tbsp onion flakes

bring to a boil, turn heat down till it begins to make a slow bubble, Cook 20-25 min stirring occasionally, do not walk away from your soup for your noodles will stick & burn if not stirred


make your favorite cornbread or stop off at Cracker Barrel LOL or your favorite crackers & enjoy!

I was thinking about the color pink in general, we can find pink all over but what does pink withing its self mean, what does it symbolize etc, so I went on a pink serach lol & came up with lots of interesting things, here is something I came across in my search & found it kinda neat
