PINK SAT./ GLASS TREASURES

Welcome to another great week of pinkieness1 Pink Saturday is hosted by Beverly who can be found over at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ where you not only will meet sweet Beverly herself for It's more pink Sat. participants, so run on over & fall in love with PINK! LOL this week I am sharing some of my pink glass treasures

This sweet little pink glass lady was a b'day present from sister, I had admired it many times at a local antique shop, & she would always ask, why don't you get her, well as fate would have it, she showed up at my work many many moons ago with it wrapped ever so dainty & surprised me with her
The pink bowl I found at our local craft show, not sure why I'm always drawn to pink as I am not a pink person lol but knew it'd be glorious for ladies luncheons or something down the road & at a steal for $10 , she proceed to tell me she'd had it since the 40's so I had to act quickly before the lady realized what she'd said lol I gave her the $10 & ran LOL, in the close you can see the detail, it has a peacock etched on both sides & sits on marble like balls

The plates I use a lot for our ladies luncheons on my buffet, they were also a steal that I'd found along the way of our many antiquing adventures, it's hard to see but the edges have clusters of grapes, they look to be along the line of pink depression, they belonged to the lady running the shop & she said as far she she knew they were as old if not older than her LOL I retook & darken as much as I could to get true color but they're just too delicate lol but they are a deeper pink than they show

SHOW-N-TELL/JUST A PEEK

We hope that you are having a fantastic weekend ,we;ve been having a full packed weekend for sure! LOL as soon as this gets posted I'm on the road again to decorate for a wedding LOL, I recently redid my bedroom & pulled a lot of my antiques & sentimental items in & gave it more of a prim atmosphere,so I though I'd give you just a peek for now LOL

Be sure to visit http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ for more great show-n-tell

the top of my chest a drawer holds a lot of memories, hubby still can't understand why I'd put ac hair up there LOL
the green vase is from my hubby's grandmother, I'm not sure how old it is but she'd had it for many many years
the bird house we found in Tenn. wished I'd got his card LOL but we were told he brings them into the shop where we found it every summer
the chair is one of 6, there were 3 green & 3 soft pinks, I was just driving along & passed a yard sale along side of the road , bout did a U turn getting back to those chairs LOL they lady told me they came out of a Sunday school room in her church & that as fa rs as she knew had been there as far as she can remember
the little books you see under the chair are a complete set of world books that belonged to my hubby's grandmother, we had went back to the old home place to take pictures & there they were in a pile to be tossed , I brought them home & cleaned them up along with 2 quilts that were in the trash pile
the little quilt was purchased form a wholesale catalog
the huge coffee pot we found at an antique shop, being a steal at less than $20 we couldn't pass it up!
the big picture is a birthday gift from sister, you may know her as Picket lol she found this for me for my 30th b'day ohh that was sooooo many years ago at least 20 or more LOL
I hope you've enjoyed show-n-tell this week, perhaps I'll let you peek a little more next time LOL

TMT- -RETHINK THE TEACUP

With summer upon us the last place we want to be is in the kitchen so we tend to cook more outside, ice cream seems to always be a must as we look for things that are refreshing as well as satisfying, hot steamy comfort foods are pushed to the back of the recipe box, those holiday dishes aren't even given a second thought as they are replace with wild & vibrate colored dishes, while you're caught up in all of your Summer glory a hush falls over the kitchen, it is a soft cry of a tiny teacup, as I open the cabinet there she sits all misty eyed, in between the snubs she begins to ask why can't I stay out all year round, I'm good for just tea ya know! & she begins to tell me of all the

things she can do besides tea & as I ponder how she does bring me comfort with a good book all snuggled up in a comfy blankie on a cold winters day , I began to re-think the situation as I was sipping my coffee, would you like to have a snack with me, yes! yes! said my little teacup , don't cry my little teacup for you bring me comfort all year round

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Fathers Are Wonderful People

Helen Steiner Rice

Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should.

For, somehow, Father seems
to beThe man who pays the bills
While Mother
binds up little hurts
And nurses all our ills.

And Father struggles daily
To live up to "his image"
As protector and provider
And "hero of the scrimmage".

And perhaps that is the reason
We sometimes get the notion,
That Fathers are not subject
To the thing we call emotion,

But if you look inside Dad's heart,
Where no one else can see
You'll find he's sentimental
And as "soft" as he can be.

But he's so busy every day
In the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
To his partner and his wife.

But Fathers are just wonderful
In a million
different ways
,And they merit loving compliments
And accolades of praise,

For the only reason Dad aspiresTo fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
And to bring them happiness.

And like Our Heavenly Father,
He's a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
To be always on our side.

JOY UNSPEAKABLE
this is a wonderful read on joy

Hym JOY UNSPEAKABLE /B.E. WARREN

I have found His grace is all complete,
He supplieth ev'ry need;
While I sit and learn at Jesus' feet
,I am free, yes, free indeed.

Refrain

It is joy unspeakable and full of glory
,Full of glory, full of glory
,It is joy unspeakable and full of glory,
Oh, the half has never yet been told.

I have found the pleasure I once craved
,It is joy and peace within;
What a wondrous blessing! I am saved
From the awful gulf of sin.

Refrain

I have found that hope so bright and clear
,Living in the realm of grace;
Oh, the Savior's presence is so near,
I can see His smiling face.

Refrain

I have found the joy no tongue can tell,
How its waves of glory roll!
It is like a great o'erflowing well,
Springing up within my soul.

Refrain

Seems like there's so much to do & so little time LOL I have discovered though that getting up earlier gets a lot more done LOL, I saw in my BACK HOME magazine that I posted about a while back a picture of a drive very close to the way mine is , anyway long story short they had flowers with vegetables behind them coming around the curb of the driveway & I though humm we could do that , but first let me share some links of projects I'll be trying soon for the yar

Tipsy pots seem to be all the rage right now, the recent Birds & Blooms has a how to article, but if you can't get the magazine , here it is for printing out http://www.instructables.com/id/Tipsy-Pots-Tower-Planter/

I also came across a neat idea for a birdbath,I wont be painting mine like this but I'll..haha have to wait & see LOL

ok back to the driveway idea , here's the insperation

Here's the beginning of that idea, wish me luck! LOL still a little work to do on it, in front of the Iris's are zucchini, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes, behind the Iris's are cucumbers, snap beans, speckled butter beans, row behind that will be pencil cob corn if they come up LOL

A NEW TACO SALAD

With the summer months upon us, we love quick & refreshing meals to get us through the day, today's recipe is an old favorite with a new twist, I got this recipe from sister who claimed it was good so we tried it & yes it was good

be sure to visit http://blessedwithgrace.blogspot.com/ for more great recipes to tempt your tummy!

you will need............

ground beef(could also use chuck, turkey etc)

1 pkg.taco bell seasoning

Sm. jar chunky Pace salsa(or salsa of your choice)

onion

tostadosbits(or chips of your choice)

shredded lettuce

tomatoes

shredded cheese

BACON TOMATO DIP

1c. mayo

1c.sour cream

2c. chopped tomatoes

1 bag Hormel bacon pieces

mix & chill while preparing meat

cook beef with onions, add 1 pkg taco seasoning with water according to pkg.directions, add salsa, arrange chips on plate, meat mixture, lettuce cheese, meat mixture, top with dip

for a pretty look you can leave tomatoes out of dip & arrange on salad, dip is also good eaten alone with chips, I think this is a recipe that can go a lot of different ways, although the next go around I will be looking for lower salt ingredients, sorry sis but I don't love salt as much as you do LOL
