MOR FABRIC!MORE PATTERNS!

sew19

this pattern, the strips are pieced like a quilt, well I thought I’d figure out how long that’d come out & use this yummy fabric for the strips & cuffs on light weight denim, they’ll be fun days ahead with friends for sewing days, so we’ll be making a trip to JoAnn’s for that denim lol! got my coupons printed out & ready!

sew23

this fabric was clearance down 60% making it way too cheap to pass up, there’s a tee & skirt in it’s future

sew24

love this pattern & at $3.99 couldn’t pass it up

sew21

sew20

BETTER TO BIG THAN TOO LITTLE

Stitch-Slapped Friday

http://www.sewyourownwardrobeforayearchallenge.blogspot.com/

Remember the blouse  I made a few days ago, well for pictures sake I pulled it way up lol!It comes way too low to show you but all in all I was glad it was too big than to small, all pattern run different & if this one is going to run small than I'm all for making more  once I figure out how to get the kinks out , as you can see it is way to big & if it wasn’t pulled up it’d be showing  a whole other level lol! next week I’ll tinker with it, pull it up on the shoulders & see what happens

HOW MUCH CAN WE GET INTO?

you know how your morning goes, wake up, coffee, go through your reader list lol! well I came across this

http://www.sewwequilt.com/

I have  a whole board dedicated just for mug rugs & have been wanting to try my hand at them for quite some time, the perfect little project for this weekend!

THEY SAY PICTURES DON’T LIE

Have you heard that saying, pictures don’t lie? lol! well when I began to take pictures of myself I seemed to look bigger than I appear  lol!ok so I’ve gained some weight lol! anyways here’s my big ole self in my new blouse

blouse09

maybe I’ll whip up another big ole blouse in the morning lol!on a brighter note it is too big around the neck & I actually have it pulled up, I will make adjustments tomorrow

blouse06

whew! I’ve gained a lot of weight lol! there! I said it!lol!a few days ago I was flipping through the channels on TV & there was one of those shows where they dress you up in pretty cloths to suite your size, I heard a lady say (“I’m just going to embrace the size I am now because I know I wont’ be this size forever “) I like that! lol!

the blouse is from  McCall's  M5890

blouse10

it was easy to put together even with there being  princess seams on the front & back, the pattern says stretch knits only, maybe I should  have went  size smaller &stretched it as I sewed? I’m new to sewing stretchy fabric, all in all I think I’d sew this pattern again

BOOK READING CHALLENGES UPDATE

from my TBR pile---books you’ve had laying around but haven’t got around to reading & boy do I have lots of those lol!

book

Product Description

What would cause an eighteen-year-old high school homecoming queen and senior class president to drop everything and move to Uganda to live with some of the poorest people in the world? Only love, and a desire to follow Jesus wherever He leads, could make a young woman choose this path. And Katie Davis did just that, forgoing a college education, disappointing her parents and boyfriend, to teach and care for children half a world away.
In Kisses from Katie, Katie Davis shares her journey of radical love that lead her from a short-term missions trip in 2006, to adopting 13 Ugandan girls and starting a ministry that feeds and teaches hundreds of children every day. It hasn't always been an easy choice for Katie, but the joy of serving the people of Uganda brings a deeper sense of fulfillment. Her remarkable story will inspire you to believe that every life is precious and you can make a difference wherever you are.

Product Description

Ann Voskamp’s story is not happily ever after. As a child, her sister was crushed under a truck in front of her and her mother. Consequently, her mother checked herself into a psychiatric hospital and her father couldn’t find God. As an adult, she stood beside her brother-in-law as he buried his first two sons. Voskamp is a wife and mother who does not grin through the pain but battles to believe that in God is joy, and that there are as many gifts amid the grittiness of life as in the moments of celebration.

In One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, Ann strives to find the meaning of life and fully embrace the surprising truth from the final scenes of Jesus’ earthly life. In the hours before Jesus’ execution, he took bread and gave thanks. This fresh, heart-wrenching book unveils the long forgotten wonder that through the imitation of Christ’s thankfulness, we too can experience a life of joy.

FROM TEE TO PEPLUM

42fd90ca2d237abaa130061db2e22571[1]

finally getting caught up with a little sewing, a short update on my fitted blouse for P.R. I didn’t realize the difference in the time zone so while I’m trying to wind everything up thinking I have over an hr to post, the time was up on their side, & because I haven’t been  a member for 3 months yet it wouldn’t let me send an email oh well carry on lol!

so moving right along, today I took a yellow T-shirt from the closet & decided to turn it into a peplum top

challenge18

I measured from the top of the shoulder  down to where I thought the ruffle would look good

challenge19

then cut, leaving the hem in the bottom so I wouldn’t have to hem itchallenge21

then I stretched the cut off bottom part making it wider so I could put a little gather to it to create a rufflechallenge20

then run a  gathering stichchallenge22

then attach back to the top, creating a peplum look, I think it needed  a larger tee to make a fuller ruffle& maybe go up further to achieve the look I was going for ,I only ha a picture to go by on Pinterest so I’m sure there is two different sizes involved so maybe I’ll attempt it again later on

challenge23

I’ve been thinking about what to make for the sew your own wardrobe challenge, the word “plan” comes to mind, so I think I’ll try to plan out my projects one Season at a time
