A FULL DAY INDEED!

what do you do when it’s too wet to work outside? make jelly! lol!

red wild plum & yellow wild plum jelly, I was thrilled to find the yellow plums this year, didn’t it turn out so pretty? love the golden color, there’s still more juice to make more, I thought I was done because I thought I had ran out of sugar so I cleaned everything up & moved on to something else, then turned around & spotted  a bag of sugar we had bought last night lol! no! no! no! I’m done! we’ll think about that later or maybe I’ll give it away lol!

then I proceeded to clean out the fridge, then start prepping fruits & salads, stocking plenty of water

cantaloupe, grilled chicken salads, & traditional with boiled eggs, a prepped fridge makes for a happy fridge & keeps on one track

we are in week three & doing great! I am in a  whole new number bracket on the scales yippee! I can actually see a dent starting to form in my waist  line lol!I’ve lost 5 inches so far!

my new toy(dress form) for the sewing room came today, gotta get her put together & start my project or fourth of July, then it’ll be time to go pick peaches, apples & blueberries whoo hoo!

DO YOU EVER FIND YOURSELF SAYING HUH? WHEN IT COMES TO SEWING TERMS? MOST TERMS LIKE RS (RIGHT SIDE) WS(WRONG SIDE)ARE EXPLAINED ON THE PATTERN DIRECTIONS,MOST JUST NATURALLY COME TO MIND AS TO WHAT THEY ARE, BUT IF YOU’VE BEEN OUT OF THE SEWING LOOP FOR A WHILE, YOU START TO SEE WORDS YOU’VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE, THEN THERE’S FABRIC TERMS, I’VE NEVER GIVEN MUCH THOUGHT AS TO THE FABRIC NAME JUST SEE IT LIKE IT BUY IT MAKE IT KIND OF GIRL LOL! BUT I WANT TO LEARN BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL ASK LOL! AND WE WONT EVEN GET INTO QUILTING TERMS, I JUST NOW FIGURED OUT WHAT TNT PATTERNS ARE LOL!

I’VE NOTICED TNT & WADDER POPPING UP A LOT, TNT SOUNDED LIKE A CABLE CHANNEL TO ME LOL! HAD A DUH MOMENT  WHEN I LOOKED IT UP LOL! TNT-TRIED AND TRUE PATTERNS, WADDER-AN ITEM OR PROJECT THAT DOESN’T COME OUT QUITE THE WAY YOU PLANED IT , BOY HAVE I HAD SOME OF THOSE LOL! HOPEFULLY MY NEW TOY FOR THE SEWING ROOM WILL TAKE CARE OF THAT IN THE FUTURE,IT COMES TOMARROW! YIPEE!

HOW DID I FIGURE OUT SIMPLE LITTLE OLE TNT?  I TYPED IN WHAT DOES A TNT DRESS MEAN ? WHAT CAN I SAY, WHEN IT COMES TO SEWING SOMETIMES MY LIGHTBULB (BRAIN) IS A 40 WATT & SOMETIMES IT’S A 75 LOL!

SPRING SEWING IN REVIEW

 

According to the calendar it is finally Summer, but you couldn't tell it was wasn’t Spring this past month with temps up in the high 90s, life was a little busy to get much sewing done for the Spring, but Summer’s looking brighter lol!

I decided to sew by seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter then I broke it down into categories, Dress's’, suites /casual,sport/ lounge, sleepwear/ special occasion /refashion, just for fun so lets see how I did lol!

DRESS/SUITES

McCall's 5890 (blouse)

even though I have the blouse raised up as high as it’ll go the neck line is still way too low ,but I like that the pattern has princess seams & looking at the picture now I can see I’ve lost weight since then, yea me! sorry back to the blouse lol! I will tweak the pattern & try it again

CASUAL/SPORT

I’m proud to say this skirt needs cutting down already!

SPECIAL OCCASION

I made this  chevron skirt to wear to church the Sunday my daughter came & spoke on her adoption possess for Reece

REFASHION/JUST FOR FUN

this was a curtain panel that I transformed into an apron

this almost turned out to be a peplum lol! I think I needed  two tee’s for the bottom  to ruffle up more,but  a cute project, I may try again

I am ready to embrace summer with bright vibrant colors

I’m thinking this will be my first Summer project as it has a 4th of July feel about it lol!

I have  roughly 18 days left to get my sewing room all tweaked, fluffed, organized,decorated etc. for  the “Where Bloggers Create” party which I will post on my Nannas Raggedys-N-Prims blog July 11th

FROM CURTAIN PANEL TO APRON

I’ve been dabbling in the refashion world lol!& when I saw this vintage curtain panel for $3 I knew it could have a future as an apron,I held it out & studied it for a while as I began to explain to my husband as to how I could cut this part  & make straps & this part to make this ….people began to gather round me lol!

I laid one of my  aprons on top of it to get an idea of how long I wanted it then cut straight across the top

then I cut the top hem where the rod goes  through off 

the space between the middle  was folded in half, ironed to make a crease & cut into two strips then these two was folded in half, iron & cut giving me  four strips

then sewed two strips end to end, folded in half & sewed down the sides

then I cut the bottom off & hemmed it

I reattached the top band & ran a decorative stitch across, waiting for that to go all the way across took 14 min. whew! yes I timed it lol!

I worked on this project for two days, was it worth it?

you bet it was! have to say I’m kind of proud of myself lol!

 

 

 

IT’S TIME FOR WILD PLUM JELLY

I’M SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW  THE YELLOW PLUMS DO FOR JELLY  LOL! WE’VE ALWAYS JUST BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE RED ONES BUT WHEN I SAW  THOSE YELLOW ONES AS FAR AS THE EYS COULD SEE, OH GLORY! LOL! IT WOULD OF TOOK DAYS TO PICK THEM ALL, PLUS PLUMS GO A LONG WAYS, THEY MAKE LOTS OF JELLY!

SEWING UPDATES

EARLY THIS MORNING I WORKED ON TWO PROJECTS, TURNING HIS WHITE TEES INTO ME A GOWN  & TURNING A VINTAGE CURTAIN PANEL INTO  AN APRON WHICH I WILL FINISH TOMARROW I MAY POST THEM SEPARATE SINCE THEY’LL BOTH BE PICTURE HEAVY

PREP WORK MAKES IT EASY

SEEMS LIKE EVERYTIME WE GET BACK ON THE EAT RIGHT WAGON, WE’RE FACED WITH RUNNING TO & FRO, TOO BUSY, TOO TIRED TO COOK A REAL MEAL LEAVING THE EASY WAY OUT…GO OUT TO EAT! LOL! I GOT TO THINKING ABOUT THE FREZER MEALS I DID A FEW MONTHS BACK, & THE SALAD IN THE JARS HUMMM THIS COULD WORK! THE FIRST TWO WEEKS YOU’RE JUST CUTTIGN OUT BREADS, STARCHES, FRUITS & SUGARS WHICH ARE ADDED BACK AFTER THE 2 WEEKS & BELIEVE ME HE’S COINTING THE DAYS WHEN HE CAN HAVE RICE , LOL! HE LOVES RICE!

LET’S START THE DAY OFF WITH AN OMELET MADE WITH EGSS, CHEEESE, DICED HAM, SALSA, & SOUR CREAM

CHICKEN KABOBS W/ONION,SQUASH, EGG PLANT THEN WRAPED WITH SERAN WRAP & FROZE FOR GRILLING MAYBE?
