UPDATE ON REECE

Reece

We just  talked to Heather & seen Reece , he really keeps his eyes on Heather lol! they said he did really good leaving the orphanage,it is 1:00 am our time but around 2:00pm Mon. evening for them so as we're sleeping or trying too lol! they're just getting a good start on their day, please continue to lift them up when you pray, I knew from the start that Gods hedge of protection was all around them as always but just to show you how God works to take that to the next level, they met a couple from Tenn. who is staying in the same hotel, a few doors down, who is also adopting a little boy from the same orphanage, they have become good friends & have been to supper & will celebrate Reece's 3rd birthday while they are there, thank you Jesus ! for putting this couple in my daughter & son-N-laws path to make this journey in a foreign land a little less stressful!God is good!

from Heathers FB post… It's fun to shop in Wal-Mart when you can't identify half the stuff in there.... made for an interesting day of trying to guess what it all was.. some things were obvious.. like the huge pig skin that was the face of the pig.. it had a snout....the whole chicken hanging bare beside the pig face...  

their Walmart has an upstairs,

from Heathers FB post…Oh the Walmart in China has a upstairs.. you go up a escalator but it's not stairs. it's flat so you can carry your buggy with you. That was pretty cool. 

they will be in China for two more weeks, all week the twins have been asking.. have they got Reece yet lol! oh how excited they will be tomorrow ! my oldest daughter asked me where were we before cell phones, computers, I-phones, Skype & web cams lol!

Remember when Annie said oh my goodness! oh my goodness!? well oh my goodness! the time has come! my daughter & son-n-law leave for China in less than two hours, I will be with the girls till the weekend then my son-n-laws mom picks them up for the first week, then  I’m back back on  the following Sunday to Sunday for the second, yep they’ll be gone for two weeks ,continue to keep them in your prayers, they are going to try to keep us posted from China which we will keep you updated

WHOO HOO I MADE TWO SKIRTS

OK so maybe Maxi skirts aren’t so much to whoo hoo about loll! especially when your chevron print makes you look like a chevron sign lol! oh well, weight comes & goes in this house & since it has decided to visit for a while I shall embrace it until it is time to say goodbye lol!

I blame the elastic for making my skirts make me look like a barrel lol!it keeps rolling & bunching up so when there’s time I’ll redo that & maybe I’ll look 2lbs less lol!I just have to learn new ways to take pictures, like hiding behind hubby! lol!

PROJECTS IN ACTION

we’ve had our jar going about two weeks now, I have found $5 left on the kitchen table where hubby has left on his way out to work lol!we’ve decided not to keep up with the amount & just be surprised when it’s time to buy Christmas, there will be  anew addition to our family this year, more on that below

tonight is Friday Night sew in over at Heidi’s  http://www.handmadebyheidi.blogspot.com/ I had a root canal done today, so we’ll see how the sewing goes but I am working on my Maxi skirt for this

but for now I need my meds, the feelings starting to come back lol!

my daughter called this morning, they leave next week for China,whoo hoo! Reece will change our world as we will his, God is good!

CAPE COD APPLE MUFFINS MINUS THE MESS LOL!

the second attempt was much better after some tweaking

CAPE COD APPLE MUFFINS

2 cups flour

1 cup sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 cup oil

2 cup shredded carrots ( I used 1)

1 large apple shredded or chopped  (I used 2)

1/2 cup nuts –chopped

2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring

1/2 cup raisins

3 eggs –beaten

this recipe also called for:

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons soda

I did not add these 2 ingredients to the second batch, the salt was over powering & I think the soda was the culprit to the mess lol!

mix dry ingredients

add remaining ingredients & mix well

fill muffin tins 2/3 full

bake 20-25 minutes @ 350

apples will make a difference in the taste as well, mine weren’t the sweetest but ok, the next time I make these I will invest in  sweeter apples & maybe add a touch more cinnamon “just a touch’!

after they cooled , I wrapped them individually in saran wrap & put in a gallon zip lock baggie & froze them, just take one out  at night & place in the  fridge & your ready for breakfast!

SEW SOMETHING ALREADY!

That's what I hear my brain telling my mind lol!, Hancock's still has  a great sale going on & I’ve got Maxi skirts on the brain, how hard can it be right? sew up the back, make a waist, hem it & waa laa only my waa laa’s haven’t been working too good lately lol!

these four prints were on the clearance table, who can pass up making a skirt less than three dollars lol!

the chevron was in the regular section, a little pricy but on sale for 40% off making it $7 a yard, I have a two jackets, & a brown tee as well as a teal tee that would work with this print as well as a necklace lol! I want, mind you “I want” to make it for this coming up Sunday as it will be a special occasion

my daughter will be coming to our church as a guest speaker, can you guess on what?

they are just weeks away from getting plane tickets & bringing that sweet little boy into our lives, they will have to stay in China for two weeks then we will take the girls to meet them at the airport, God is good!

MUFFINS GONE WRONG

have you ever pinned something off pinterest only to find there’s something wrong with the layout or the recipe in this case lol! I knew the spices cinnamon etc seemed like a lot but nooo I had to go by the recipe, ok so I don’t like to add salt to anything I make sweet but noo I have to listen to people that tell me salt enhances the flavor , you should add it,lol! sooo what did it all get me?

don’t be fooled, they are not chocolate lol!believe it or not they are apple! they turned dark perhaps from wrong amount of cinnamon etc.? & the salt oh boy did it ever enhance the flavor SALT!! YUCK! so I have  a bright idea to add more sugar to the remaining batter & it did not like that at all, what a mess!

so in the garbage they go, turn the oven off, let it cool down, pull out the long rubber gloves & oven cleaner

 

an hour later scrub scrub scrub, this lead to cleaning the outer edge as well as the glass as long I was intoxicating myself might as well go all the way lol!

another hour later, aww all clean & shinny do I dare try again? first foil is put down just in case! ingredients are pulled out again except the soda & the salt lol! & I used only  half  of the spices, oh yea! looking good!

some are missing , you see there had to be taste test lol! what was meant to be muffins for breakfast turned out to be an all day ordeal, with the tweaking of the ingredients they turned out wonderful, a hint of cinnamon, carrots, apples, raisins makes for an umm umm good muffins!

by this time it was getting over into supper time, I had made Italian meatballs the other day, another pinterest recipe lol! the muffin disaster took all day & there was a gal bag full of these meatballs in the freezer, hummm do I??? what do you think? a keeper?

they were delicious, almost like eating at Olive Garden lol!so  I started out at 8am with the muffins, after cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the oven, dragging everything back out, baking again, cleaning everything again, then supper , then clean up supper, mercy I cleaned that kitchen three times lol! who knew making muffins could beat you down lol!

Shortly after this incident, Louisa and her daughter Lily moved to South Africa where they became missionaries. The song is included in many hymnals and has been recorded by many artists.

 

GOT MY DENIM!

yea for sales! yea for coupons you can use on sales! lol!I got my denim to make my jacket, can you see how it’s going to take shape? the pattern calls for the strip down the sides/ bottom/cuffs to be patch worked  pieced but I’m going to figure how how long & how wide & cut the printed fabric accordingly

I hope it goes better than my first project, remember my animal print tee, seeeeee how low it was

even after taking it up a whole size, which made me feel good yea lol! anyways it still drooped way way down but I love this with my black pants/jacket so with the help  of you tube, pinterest, on line tutorials I’ve come up with how to make the neck line higher on my pattern, there’s no hope for this blouse

so yes I will go back to Hobby Lobby & get that print again & save it for when I get it figured out, in the meantime I’m raiding hubbys closet lol! did you know you can make a gown out of hubby’s old T-shirts
